What this site is

gotoplays.com is an editorial index. It describes hotels in prose and organises them into four fixed categories — art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. That is the whole remit.

The site takes no reservations and holds no inventory. There are no prices, no availability calendars and no links into booking systems. If a property here interests you, the next step is the hotel's own channels.

How entries are chosen

A hotel appears only when it clearly belongs to one of the four categories. Borderline cases are left out rather than stretched to fit, which is why the index is short and why the ice category holds a single entry.

Descriptions concentrate on things that stay true over time: where a building stands, how it was put together, what the format of a stay is, what sits around it. Menus change, rates change, room refurbishments happen — so those details are left alone.

What you will not find here

No star ratings. No numerical scores. No guest reviews, real or otherwise. No ranked lists and no claims about which hotel is best, because that judgement belongs to the person travelling and not to an index.

Casino hotels are covered as hotels. Each entry describes the building, its rooms, its restaurants, its setting and its entertainment programme, and treats the gaming floor as one facility among several. Nothing on this site promotes gambling or provides any way to gamble.

Geography

The index is geographically neutral. Properties are listed wherever they happen to be — Fiji, Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada and Finland at present — and no country is treated as the home market. The site is written in English for a general international readership.
